PROFISIO, Programa de Formacion en Fisiologia
Facultad de Medicina, Universidad Nacional de Rosario (Argentina)
Profisio is an initiative founded by a group of University of Rosario's alumni to recover and enhance an area of teaching and research centered in the Department of Physiological Sciences of the School of Medicine. It was constituted 15 of november of 2007, coincident with the long awaited restitution of Dr. Oscar Scremin to his professorship post, taken away arbitrarily by the military intervention in 1976.
The main objective of the Profisio is to funnel substantial human and financial resources and training opportunities to the faculty and students of the School of Medicine of the University of Rosario. This is expected to be achieved initially by recalling the help and solidarity of the many expatriated alumni working in universities, laboratories and organizations around the world.
Profisio is organized formally as a NGO, in the process of being registered in Argentina and the USA and is headed by Dr. Oscar Scremin.
The aims for the year 2008 are:
- NGO Registration
- Securing of the initial office and laboratory space by the university.
- Transport of the donated laboratory equipment from Drs. Chialvo and Scremin to Rosario.
- Inauguration of the first teaching and research laboratory.
- Organization of a one-day scientific workshop at the School of Medicine to present work in progress.
Of course, we can use as much help as we can get. We need laboratory equipment, we need ways to finance the transportation of the equipment to Argentina. Once we are settled, we will need your collaboration in traveling south to train doctors, students and health related personnel.
